The aim of the visit to the College of Oriental Medicine of the Kyung Hee University of South Korea is to exchange techniques and scientific ideas to further the already established collaboration between the two research groups. As will be discussed further on, the two groups share similar scientific interests, but use different techniques. Whereas the Nijmegen group predominantly uses behavioral techniques, the Seoul group specializes in neurochemical techniques and acupuncture. Thus by combining forces, both groups will profit optimally from such a collaboration. In addition the applicant will give several lectures dealing with the general principles of developing animal models for psychiatric diseases, and on the long term consequences of early stressful life events in animals.
